April 5, 2017 at 10:45 pmI am also struggling with the same feelings. I live in Glasgow in Scotland, I came here a year ago beacuse I am from Poland, I just found a new full time job as a driver. But I though about Motion Graphic Design. The problem is that i can’t even draw, and i can’t afford to study. I need to work full time and learning from home, and doing maybe some courses is the only way i can see for know. I just wonder, how good i have to be to make use of it. I don’t have any experience with this industry, just edited few videos and make few tutorials from AE. Also Graphic Design knowledge would be great advantage. It is just so much to learn on the start that i don’t know with what to start. Internet is great, it grants a lot of usefull stuff but it is just so confusing.

July 26, 2017 at 11:12 pmHi Todd, lol I just stumbled across this post by accident today and realised that it was me who wrote it! Not a lot has changed as far as career in mograph. To be honest with you I don’t have anyone to blame but myself. I became very negative after uni once I realised how limited the opportunities were. I felt hopeless and lost all confidence. I could see that there were so many very talented people out there and I didn’t feel like I had any chance of getting a foot in the door when I was competing with such people. I’m not the competitive type. Maybe that means it’s the wrong industry for me?? About once a year an entry level job comes up at a tv studio but each time I have not been ready. I’ve done a few freelance pieces here and there animating logos and such for people and earnt peanuts for it. I haven’t lost interest though. I still sit down at least a few times a week and learn something new. I guess now I just see it more as a creative hobby. I have other ways to make money. Who knows maybe one day I’ll get it together. I would love to freelance full time but after all these years I still need some more experience. I’m great at coming up with ideas but following them through to completion is something I struggle with. I get very bored.
