a lot of clips on time line plays slow and stutters..
I have a lot of clips on the time line about 33..and still have to add more…. when I play it plays very slow and is hesitating….should I pre render to avi….if I keep doing that…will I loose quality ?
also when I stack video tracks…I see a flickering image of tracks that are underneath…how can I stop this ?

What is the format of the source footage? What codec does it use? Is it SD or HD?

Hello John…the format is AVI, and is SD…. the only way I can get it to stop flickering the overlays is to cut anything under it….
to make it play smooth I select the tools option and highlight a section and pre-render it……thats the only way they will play smooth…
I’m just worried If I have to keep doing this I will loose quality of the footage…
is this true ?

What codec is in the AVI file. If you don’t know, download GSpot and open the file with it and let us know what codec it uses. I have a feeling that it might be using DivX or XVid which are not good codecs for editing and could be the reason you are having these problems.
If this is the case, you could use a tool like AviDemux 2.5 to convert the footage to MJPEG or Lagarith which will edit much easier and not loose much quality.
