I posted this on the Cubix forum:

Im trying to get to the bottom of this problem with Dual 30 Apple Cinema Displays hooked up to a Gefen DVI-DL Dual switcher.
With the Cubix housing RED Rocket, BM Decklink, Quadro 4000 and the Mac Pro 2.93 with ATI 5770, ATTO R680, Cubix host and Avid HBA (Nitris DX), Im getting a this weird display anomaly where multi-color pixels show up in the blacks and only on the blacks on only on the left monitor.
We also have another Mac Pro 2.93 with ATI 5770 sharing the Gefen and dont seem to be having the same problems.
Now I bring this up here in Cubix forum since it only happens when the Cubix is attached to that Mac.
    Anyone else experience this?

    Sorry about that.

This is a signal issue in the cable to the monitor which is probably aggravated when more gear is loading the power supply. The 30” monitors require a special dual link DVI cable which when short should work fine. If longer than 15’, a special extension cable, usually with an active equalizer is necessary. Maybe changing the cable would work, but I would not recommend any copper extension for this type of display as it becomes difficult to tune out the noise. There is an adjustment on the equalizer which you set for minimum sparkle by eye. I highly recommend a fiber optic extension type of solution. These work well and should solve your problem.

Thanks Gary, Im hoping it is the cables.
We installed special Dual Link cables for that system years ago.
Using the Gefen, it did the job for over 4 years now.
I do believe the cables are 20foot each.
We are moving to a new facility and will bring that down to no more than 12 feet.
Sadly its not just a Cubix problem.
It has moved from the Avid system to the Pro Tools one.
And it only occurs on the left display.
My apologies for stating that its a Cubix issue.
We wont be dealing with this till after the move.
    Thanks again!
