A little more confusion – definition of terms
Here are some check boxes that I encounter when getting ready to render and burn a project to DVD. I checked some of the terms which I thought would be explained and referenced by entries in the index of both Vegas Movie Studio and DVD Architect. No such luck.
1. Stretch video to fill output frame size (do not letterbox)
2. Save project as path reference in rendered media
3. Save project markers in media file
4. Use widescreen DVD format1. What is meant by output frame size? I specify somewhere that I want 720 x 408 or some such number, and my video clip is a set size with dotted line borders beyond which I should not add any text blocks. I don’t understand. And what is letterbox?
2. More confusion. If I make a mistake and remove a video clip that has been a part of my project media listing from one hard drive to another, when I try to open the file, I will get a “cannot find” message and will have supply the new location or have the software search for the missing file. Is this related to this check box? I cannot see what I gain by checking this box. And where do I see the results of checking it.
3. Project markers? I would have thought these terms would have been in the index. Is this related to menus? Do I find these markers on the timelines?
Any comments appreciated.

I hope I can give you some of the answers but not all.
Letterboxing applies only if you have recorded the video in widescreen i.e. 16:9 format. If this is played back on a TV screen that is not widescreen then everything will look tall and thin. It will look correct only on a widescreen TV. This can be overcome by letterboxing the wide screen film which will then look normal on a 4:3 TV set, but will have a box round it. I always film in Widescreen and use letterboxing so that the film can then be viewed on all TV sets. Output frame size distinguishes between 4:3 format and 16:9 format.hope this helps. I also get “missing files” occasionally. When the programme finds them I then resave to the desired file.

If you choose this option, you can then right-click the AVI file and open the original project for additional editing.

This option will save the markers. If you save the markers, DVD A will use those as chapter points. Markers are placed on the Vegas timeline by pressing the “M” key. Markers are used for many purposes and are described in the manual.

You’ve removed it from the TIMELINE but have not removed it from the PROJECT. Go to the Project Media tab and click on the “lightening bolt” icon (it was a broom icon in older versions) to clear out unused items from the media pool.
