I’m trying to capture a small piece of DVCProHD 720p tape through Firewire into a 720p 59.54 AVID MC project. It does capture, but playback is speeded up… like frames were skipped or something. I occasionally get a flamethrower error.:

PMDIO outputmode::Start-Falled to start driver – FTStatus Co de – FT – StartLinkFailed – FlamethrowerOHCITrasnmitLink::Start>ink – failed to start stream

I’ve tried capturing to the internal drive instead of the Caldigit with same unusable results. I’ve really played around with the deck settings. They seem OK. I’ve had no trouble capturing HD before to EXpressProHD on my old PC. I can easily capture the same HD footage with this deck into FCP on another Mac. Could this be an AVID bug on the early MC v.3 software? What’s going on??? Why is this such a struggle?

    System specs:

    MAC OS 10.5.5

    MC 3.0.5

    QTpro 7.5.5

    MAC Harpertown 2 x 3.2 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon

    4 gigs of Ram

    NVidia GeForce 8800 GT card

    Caldigit HDPro RAID

Panasonic 1200A DVCProHD deck with firewire card.

Capturing to front Firewire port on the MAC

If ya go comparing it to FCP, you’re just gonna get fussy.
