A little confusion over capture sizes 1888×1062 @ 29.95??
Recently did an all day on-location capture with a Decklink Studio card in a Mac Pro. Captured 1080i/59.94 (29.97) as ProRes 422 HQ and Uncompressed 8-bit via SDI from an EX1 cam.
I return to base to review the footage. And Quicktime Player is giving me weird pixel dimensions.
In Movie Inspector, I get this:
Format 1920x1080 (1888x1062)
FPS: 29.95
Normal size: 1888x1062
Current size: 1888x1062 (actual)So what’s this 1888×1062 business? Am I not recording at full 1920×1080 raster? I’m viewing this on a 30″ screen, so the movie is at 100%. Final Cut and After Effects both report it as a 1920×1080/29.97 clip. So I’m very confused.

This is the conform aperture setting in Quicktime. See this Apple technote:

This is the first I’ve ever heard of Quicktime conform aperture!
Wow, that Tech Note confused me even more. So Quicktime Player Pro is cropping and scaling my movie?! That doesn’t sound good, does it?
I’m using QT Player Pro to convert my Uncompressed 8-bit to ProRes HQ. From your link, it sounds like I shouldn’t unless I individually modify the aperture settings? Should I be using Compressor?

“Not really. It’s just a presentation mode. The file is untouched at all. You can change the settings back to “Classic” if you find any issues while re-compressing the clip in Quicktime.

you can reset quicktime 10 to ‘Classic’?
how?or maybe you are talking about qt7?
