  • A good word by word plug in for FCP?

Posted by Matthew Chapman on January 19, 2011 at 2:33 pm

    Hi-
We are creating a stage show where we are using quotes from the internet.
We want a program where we can take a quote, type it in, and have the video render the quote word by word (revealing one word at a time).
I know this is pretty tedious to do via keyframing, is there an easy way to do it in FCP? Is there a 3rd party plugin or software that does it?
    thanks
    matt

Probably one of the Motion text templates since LiveType had it I think. AE has a couple word by word presets. And you may even check the Master Templates withinn FCP.

Alternatively, there’s the type on effect in FCP.

You can easily do that your self in after effects.

Check out the video from Rob Mize.

You get the idea if you watch it. Just forget the laser.

You don’t need templates, After Effects or otherwise.

Just use the ‘Fade Words In” behavior in Motion

Yea, Motion is the most flexible tool, but since you asked for an FCP plug-in, there’s Boris Title 3D, which you have — it’s included in FC.

Under the “Type On” controls, select “Word” from the “Apply To” pulldown and animate the “Type On” parameter from 0 to 100. If you like, set the Fade to somewhere in the midrange for word by word fade on.
