    Hello all,

So ever since Final Cut Pro 1.0 I’ve been happily editing with that software. Now I am closing a deal with a cable network which will most likely result in my needing to buy a couple of avid systems for the off-line work. I was hoping that some of you might know of a good avid dealer that has experience selling broadcast level set-ups. I’m not sure if there is one in Salt Lake. I was also hoping you may have some suggestions on a set-up yourselves. Here are my requirements:

    1. I’d like to stay Mac based.

    2. We’ll be importing files via firewire only. Both XDCam HD422 material and HDV.

    3. We’ll strictly be doing off-line work. The online will be done elsewhere.

    4. I own a very good TV Logic 24″ HD Broadcast Monitor so I’d like to have some way of driving that monitor via SDI or Component.

    5. From the research I’ve done, even the Mojo system seems like overkill as I won’t be needing any video I/O . . . that is, except for driving the monitor. Would MediaComposer be enough?

    6. Audio is another thing. I’d like to control audio via a 12-Channel mixer so maybe I do need some kind of hardware.

Thanks for the input guys. I’m looking forward to working with the AVID interface.

If you need to drive an HD monitor over analog component or HDSDI, you need a Mojo DX or Nitris DX.

If you need multichannel audio outputs, they are standard on the Nitris DX (with a breakout cable), and you could use an HDSDI audio deembedder for the Mojo DX.

If you’re doing offline and can settle for just a mono or stereo output and a DVI or VGA screen, you could use the software only, then use Full Screen Mode to playback full HD.

    Thanks Job,

    That’s a good start.
