    Hi,

We are setting up our first Kona 3 system on a Quad G5 with a FX4500 video card for online and color correction using FCP and Final Touch HD.

Once this is hooked up to our raids through 4gb fiber will I be able to see and work with HD that has been captured by Black Magic HD Pro cards in other rooms? IF not is there a work around?

Does the Kona card work with Apple uncompressed codecs?

Does the Kona 3 card have any issues when working with HDCAM SR 444 RGB?

I have heard the K3 works best with Final Touch, does anyone have any advice for things to avoid?

Thanks in advance for any info.

    John

Footage captured on other boards/ systems need to use the KONA 2VUY compressor setting that is installed as part of drivers

The Kona works with both very well, it also does true 2K including a realtime capture (decklink does not)
The Kona also do all of the up, down and cross conversion in realtime because that are using hardware and not software for the process.

and No issues in Final Touch as far as I have run into. as long as you remember that FT works best with uncompressed content.

Also be sure to turn OFF your Screen Saver on the Mac with Final Touch. The Screen Saver stops the FT renders. Letting your display go to sleep is fine, but not the screen saver.

The best thing I can recommend about Final Touch is get some training. I brought in Bob Sliga from Chicago for just over a day and it was the best money I’ve spent in a long time. We just completed 6 new episodes of HD programming all CC’d with Final Touch.
