I know this is early, since CS4 isn’t even out yet, but I’d like to know a few things before I decide to upgrade, and I don’t see where I could get these answers right now.

    1. I read that CS4 is now a 64-bit app. I use OSX, which is a 64-bit OS. Would there be any advantages for me?

    2. They say they improved direct linking. Do you think that rendering an AE comp in PPro is improved, too? I mean, have you tried to render an AE comp in PPro v2.0 or CS3? Something that would take AE 10 minutes itself to render might take PPro 45 minutes. I never really understood that. Someone once told me that AE takes better advantage of multiple processors than PPRo does, and that’s why AE is so much faster rendering. As it stands now in v2.0 and CS3, direct linking an AE comp in PPro is a waste of time.

    3. The titler. We’ve all had issues with CS3’s titler. v2.0’s titler was MUCH more stable. I hope that CS4’s titler is improved over CS3.

All the other new features in CS4 really don’t apply to me. So if the above three issues are resolved in CS4, I’d be more likely to upgrade.

Perhaps my best bet is to get the trial of CS4 once it’s available and test it out.

As I read, must of the changes was to PS. Neither to me, will take advantage of the small changes for Premiere.
I’m disappointed with the “multi-effects” I thought for example, that I would be able to apply a transition to multiple pictures (50 or so) in one step…..

It will in CS4. You can add default transitions to all selected clips.
