Sony vegas movie studio platinum 9.0b/DVDA architect 4.5

I have used vegas for a year, but primarily in the the “edit in vegas and render and then automatically open up in DVDA” mode.

My latest project is a bit more challenging, and I want to render pieces of it, so that it wont take so long to make a new DVD when I only change a few scenes.

Originally I had all my scenes in one Vegas project, but I can’t find an a way to keep a previous render for most of the project while changing a few scenes, and then rerender the changed scenes.
Q1. is that a correct conclusion?

Since I cannot do the above, I think I need to divide the project into multple vegas projects and then import each into DVDA. This way if I change only one project, I dont have to redo the other projects.
    Q2. sound reasonable?

    Now my real questions
Q3. I plan to have markers in my vegas projects, which I hope will show up as chapter titles on the dvd. It seems that the marker information is stored in a seperate file.Since I have multiple vegas projects, I assume I will have multiple marker files. Since in the past I did the “automatically send the project to DVDA”, I have not had a need to manually import markers into DVDA; how do I do that?

Q4. I believe the render format in vegas will still be “DVDA format”, widescreen. When i have this format selected, the “custom” button on vegas (v9.0b) is grayed out (it is fine for other modes such as WMV, AVI, MPEG-1, but not MPEG02). I can’t alter the bit rate. I have found that when the rendered file is too large, and DVDA “optimizes”, it still takes as much time as the original render (no transitions, etc). I would like to be able to control the bit rate in vegas. Any suggestions?

Q5. Would DVDShrink be a viable alternative to DVDA optimize?

Q6. If i wind up rendering in someother workflow to get the bit rate down,, would I stil be able to make use of the marker file?

Q7. Does the Vegas marker file simply populate the chapter titels? If i remove the marker file later, will the chapter titles that came from the marker files still be there?

    Much thanks.

    Zigi,

I don’t have the answers for you as I don’t have the consumer version of this product. Hopefully someone on here who does will be able to provide some answers to your questions.

Surely someone has the platinum version out there that can help this guy out.
