    Dear all,

I was wondering if I could get some advice for a problem in my workflow.

I have a AE project which I’ve rendered out with the Quicktime Animation codec. I’ll be encoding this file with Adobe Media Encoder to a H.264 MP4 file to put online; at the same time I’m thinking of encoding the file with Firefogg to an OGV file, so as to support HTML5-enabled browsers.

The problem with my client. The project is 20 minutes long, and they’d like to see both a full 20 minute version, as well as it being presented in 8 parts, each around 2-3 minutes. I have set up ‘cut-points’ in the project so this is easy to do with Adobe Media Encoder – I just ask it to render from a certain cut-point to another cut-point.

I cannot, however get Firefogg to do this for me. Is there a OGV encoder that has that function? Or would I have to go back to AE, render out separate high quality files, and then encode those into OGG?

Thanks in advance for your time and patience.

I have no experience with Firefogg.

However since you are using AME already couldn’t you just render out the same cut points in an uncompressed format and take those into Firefogg?

At least it would save you a step.

    Thanks for your quick reply!

So would I just select Quicktime, and set the compression to None? I always had the idea that the output file would be different from the original file…

If there is no compression the output file should be identical to the input file.

Brian has given you an excellent solution. I am however curious with you desire to use OGG – hasn’t WebM (VP8) supplanted OGG as the default video format for HTML5?

    Cheers

I don’t know what Albert is using Ogg for, but Unity (the game engine) uses Ogg Theora video — that’s the only thing I’ve run across so far.
