I’m considering the purchase of an XDProHD camcorder and am a bit tight for cash at present for a decent bit of HD glass for it.

Considering these are fitted with 1/2inch chips and I have a good (and wide!) SD broadcast (2/3inch) lens, can I consider using that in the interim until I can find the bucks?

What are the limitations of such a use?

Also any comments on the workflow of this format in FCP would be very interesting to read. I currently run 5.04: SD uncompressed via AJAio

    Thanks for any help,

    Alan

I’d assume that the optics with the SD lens aren’t going to be compatible at all with the optics on the HD camera… that’s why they make different lenses for HD cameras.

    Thanks Jerry,

just asked this of our camera guys … they said you can do it, but it won’t be as wide or as long, and will be soft at the edges.
