[Bill Davis] ” I think I (and others) have done reasonably well waking up the nay-sayers. Sometimes, a whisper isn’t enough. You need at least a few folks shouting to gain attention.

I think Apple (and third parties) improving X’s toolset helped a bit too. ????

Honestly sorry to hear that, Michael.
That kind of family life stress is awful.
Hopefully the pain of the period that’s ending will be replaced as soon as it can be with new possibilities..
    Take care.

[Andrew Kimery] “FCP announcements would be front and center on Apple.com? Yeah, but those days are gone and never coming back.”

It seems to be right up front on Apple.com to me. They are using it to sell their new computer.

Apple.com homepage for me is iPhone 7, Watch 2 and the new MBP with an image of exploding colored dust in its monitor. ‘Below the fold’ is a gift guide, AirPods, Super Mario Run and Apple’s coffee table book. Maybe different home page carrousels for different regions?

Your screen shot is what I’m talking about though. In that particular image Apple is selling the TouchBar on the 2016 MBP. Apple also uses Photos, Mail, Keynote, Safari and Customization to sell the TouchBar. What they aren’t doing is selling FCP.

I can’t remember the last time a FCP release got featured on the main page. In my non-exhaustive search, according to the Way Back Machine FCP 6 was featured on the main page after it’s release at NAB 2007. In 2009 FCP7 was below the fold on the main page, but the big billing was the iPhone 3Gs. I looked at FCP X’s release date and there was only a mention of it in Apple’s news ticker.

Maybe I’m blind, but is there even a direct link to FCP X (or any software) from Apple’s main page? The best I can do is click on “Mac”, which takes me to the new MBP screen by default, and then scroll down past accessories, past MacOS/iOS, and past the built-in apps until I get close to the bottom and find X in the Pro Apps section.

It’s on the first page when you click on “Mac”

It’s placement is about where I would put it.

The link to buy FCP is basically 2 clicks. “Mac”, “FCPX”

In the top order of the page it’s Mac, iPad, iPhone, Watch, TV, Music, Support

Right, Apple.com->Mac (which drops you onto a page about the MBP) then scroll down 3/4 of the page to the Pro Apps section to find the link to the FCPX page.

If it was up to me applications would still have their own subheading under Mac. Now it’s just MB, MBA, MBP, iMac, MP, mac mini, accessories, macOS, and compare. And weirdly enough only the MBP page provides links to the Pro Apps. If you scroll through any of the other computer pages there are no links to applications. You have to click on “macOS” (upper right hand corner) and if you scroll down far enough you see links to apps like Keynote and iTunes, but no Pro Apps.

Strangely enough the macOS page that link takes you to is totally different than the macOS page you get if you click the macOS link that’s at the top of the page between “accessories” and “compare”. Basically if you go Apple.com->Mac->macOS you get one page about macOS, but if you go Apple.com->Mac->Learn More->macOS you get a completely different page about macOS.

It wasn’t sarcastic. My wife has been a burden and splitting up has been very positive. If anything my lack of humour over the past three years can be put down to frustration of carrying an unappreciative lazy wife. So thanks for the concern but not applicable. Im muchhappier now than I have been for years.
