You need to convert the analog signal from your 8mm. tape to a firewire signal. This can be done by using a miniDV camcorder that has the pass-through feature (analog in – firewire out) or a box like the Canopus ADVC-110.

As long as the camera has the pass-through feature, certainly. Your manual should tell you if it has it.

Gary, i have my 8mm footage going into to the camera(vw-2000)composit and firewire out to board with camera in vcr mode and open vegas 6 capture but i don’t see my footage in the screen? what i’m i doing wrong?
