8mm Tape Clean-up Solutions?
Hi Everyone,
I’m importing Sony MP120 8mm Video Cassettes into FCP 6 using a Sony Digital Handycam (DCR-TRV240).
The tapes have a distortion that comes and goes – on the digital camera and capture it’s a pixellated blurry band accompanied by warped audio, and on the original 8mm camera and TV it’s a static band with warped audio. Since it’s in the same spots and on both cameras I think it’s pretty clear the problem is with the tapes.
I was just wondering if FCP 6 or any of the programs in FC Studio 2 would offer a way of cleaning up or correcting these distortions on the tapes? Or if there is some other solution I should try?

i doubt very much anything will fix those problems.
sounds like there’s too much info missing from your captures.some screen shots would help a lot.
hopefully you will find a solution,
but i’d say look elsewhere… maybe After Effects for the Image and ProTools for the sound??
FCP doesn’t have the tools to do it.nick
