Activity Forums Apple Final Cut Pro Legacy 8mm film look

    Hi,
I’m an (young) event videographer based here in Los Angeles. Recently, I got a chance to play around with 8mm film and loved the look and feel it has (it happens to be more personal and “classic”). Using it towards some events adds a nice, unique touch to my videos, but adds on a lot of cost to me, and in turn, the client. I was wondering if any of you can recommend any tools or techniques by just sticking with the digital format. Thanks

Graeme Nattress has made some incredible and very affordable plugins that can do a great job of mimicking some of that Super8 look. Of course, Super8 is one of those formats that can really look a LOT of different ways (I’ve seen it look stunning and pristine like Super16, and I’ve seen it look like WWI battlefield archival footage, and everything in between), but the plugin is pretty flexible.

    good luck.

Be sure your clients are actually interested in this look and feel and then try not to get too carried away. A little of these effects goes a l-o-n-g way.

This is my standard sigfile so do not take it personally: “For crying out loud, read the freakin’ manual.”
