8bit photoshop – 8bit after effects
Hi guys – Im trying to import a psd into ae for my BG artwork – both are 8-bit and same color space. in PS it looks smooth – in ae it get badly banded –
any ideas?

You have “linearize working profile” enabled in After Effects. This results in more banding in the darker colors. If you’re going to work in linear color then you need to use at least 16bpc in AE.
