853 x 480 DV Footage
I’m capturing footage in FCP 5 from 3 mini dv tapes for use in a commerical. It don’t have a deck yet, so I’m using the camera. I was expecting 720 x 480 NTSC DV footage. However, I’m getting 853 x 480 DV with black bars on top and bottom.
Is this a common resolution? Also, I don’t understand why there would be black bars when capturing.
I would GREATLY appreciate anyone who would take the time to help a newbie like me.

Are you using the DV/NTSC Easy Setup?
What camera was used to shoot this footage?
