8.0c hanging while editing
This problem is becoming more and more pronounced and I’m wondering if anyone else is having a similar experience or can help me.
Updated Vegas on quad core intel mac with bootcamp, and Windows XP.
I’m editing HDV footage from a Sony HVR-V1U and what happens is that I get frequent hangs of the program. The preview freezes, I get little dots in the frame count at the bottom of the preview window, sometimes the audio stops and the menu bar at the top of the program turns white and it says (Not Responding). It almost always comes back if I wait, but I have to wait 5-30 seconds. Vegas never used to act like this.I have disabled virus protection, but I can’t disable Spybot adware, the firewire or auto updates because of office requirements.
This problem is really slowing me down and I’m hoping someone has some advice to offer.

I think it really is Vegas 8 being the problem. Same project with Vegas 7 ran smoothly, no problem having a preview of HD material at “best full”. Now I have to go down to “good half” to get smooth playback for DV, with no effects at all! And it is really unresponsive, a total slug. Also had to un- and reinstall a few times, because the program hung at start up at initializing audio and scipting. This is 8.c on xp sp3. I remember trying the first release of 8 and my impression was the same. So I waited until this release, but it’s really a huge disappointment to find that my favorite vehicle now runs at only half speed in the new version.
