  • 8.0 still missing true C-mode!! Please fix

I had a peek at 8.0 and it’s very impressive, BUT the timeline source mode in a preconform workflow is still not an actual SOURCE mode, it’s only sorted by source timecode and not by source reel as well. C-mode or source mode is useless if it’s not sorted by source reel. All the shots from the same reel should be lined up in timecode order on the timeline, followed by the next reel, etc. The way it is now is only a timecode sort, which defeats the purpose completely since many reels have similar timecodes in multicamera shooting, and as a result the timeline becomes just a big random mess of multiple reels in a row which completely destroys the timesaving aspect of C-mode.

PLEASE fix this and have it sort by reel properly, not just timecode. Please, I’m begging you. Peter C? Rohit? Anyone? I would be forever grateful. Thank you.

Small thing to change I guess, and I totally agree, especially with Alexa and Red reels those days, I would even ask for edge code sorting.

And since we’re adding / fixing, how about Kona support? Nothing personal, but I’d really like to have the HDMI port in the same card. Besides, it’s been promised, right?

Your absolutely right, it not true c-mode!

    Here’s a quick work around,
In the conform page right click and choose “create session with handles”
Don’t add handles but check source mode,
I’m pretty sure it’s true c-mode with reel sorting.
Then from the color page just switch sessions between C&A mode time lines.

BTW, I think you mean Amode not C,
Isn’t C mode edit order and A mode source order?

    Cheers

Well that workaround is interesting in that it does actually default to a true C-mode sort by source, but it strangely does so as the default A-mode timeline, and when you toggle to C-mode is acts as an A-mode for the original preconform. What this means is you can actually grade in a C-mode workflow of the original preconform (Resolve calls this A-mode for the new session), but when it comes time to render the master, there is no way to have it render in original show order (what Resolve now calls the new C-mode for this session), only in source order (the new A-mode). So it cannot be used as a workaround. Very frustrating. Please correct this BMD, please!! I’m begging again.

    Thanks.

BTW, Charlie, traditionally C-mode is source order and A-mode is master order (first edit at 1:00:00:00, etc.) C-mode was used for auto assemblies of linear online edits, so each source reel would be loaded only once and all shots from each reel layed in to the master in their appropriate places.
