7d – battery performance?
Posted by Brian Hoven on January 26, 2010 at 6:59 pmHow long does the factory battery last using the 7d for video?
I’m planning to shoot a behind the scenes next week at a photo shoot and was wondering if i should bring a backup or not.

January 26, 2010 at 7:01 pmLot of factors…
Constant rolling or start stop?
LiveView on all the time, or turned off between takes?I usually have 3 batteries and 2 chargers PER camera
This is always enough if you have access to power

January 26, 2010 at 7:04 pmWell this depends on a lot of different factors such as length of shoot, if you’re using IS lenses, if you turn off the camera between takes etc.
I’d play it safe and have multiple batteries with you. I like to have a least 3 with me. I typically find under a lot of stress I can get 1.5-2 hrs on each battery but thats not scientific at all.

January 26, 2010 at 9:06 pmI would say no matter the camera or the shoot. 2 or 3 batts and a charger are a must have.

January 27, 2010 at 5:33 pmSorry – i should have been more specific. I’ll be at a photo shoot most of the day – shooting for a behind the scenes video thru out the day. Lenses were my next question. I ordered the model with the kit lens (i realize it’s not the best) but plan to rent a couple. Which lenses would be good for a project like this?
was going to get a 70-200 2.8 and 17-55 2.8.
thanks
