7.5 setup and waveform monitor for DVD output
If I am going out to DVD, for display on a TV, do I use the “7.5 IRE Setup switch?” It sets “0” on the waveform at 7.5, I believe. DVD players add their own 7.5 setup don’t they? Do they actually lift the blacks? (When encoding MPEG, I assume the black levels will not change.) I have set my preview TV to reflect a Test pattern on the timeline sent via my camera (0 setup) to show bars/Pluge properly. effectively tricking it to be able to preview properly, see “0” as 7.5.(channel 11 will now look washed out for example) If I put the blacks at computer “0”, in preview they look crushed. If I use the “7.5 setup” switch, and put blacks at the “adjusted 0” they look more accurate. Just a bad monitor? Or am I missing something. I use the “Studio RGB” switch, as I use the Vegas codec.

The DVD player will take care of that. You don’t need to worry about changing anything in Vegas or Movie Studio.
