Have log & transfered original 720P50 clips into ProRes. Is there much of an improvement in quality by converting to SD through compressor (frame controls on, resize to best etc), or is it the same result by dumping the ProRes HD clips into an SD timeline and rendering there?

Think I’ve answered my own question. Downconvert in hardware (using AJA io HD) artifact free, unlike the software route. Opinions welcome.

Set “Render in High Precision and “render Motion Effects: BEST” in FC and make a short test.
I don’t like how Compressor do it.
I use FC or SHAKE for downscaling.

Sorry, I read your last post too late.
    Use the AJA.
