I’ve just reviewed the footage for my next project, and I see that it is DVCPRO HD 720p30 29.97. However the footage was loaded in as 720p60 59.94.

What is the easiest way to get this footage converted / duplicate frames dropped and still keep the TimeCode associated with the files correct.

I’ve got 57 tapes worth of footage, so reloading isn’t what I want to do.

Is there a way for FCP to correctly ID this footage as 720p30 29.97.

I tried using DVCPRO HD rate converter, but the converted file was without audio.

Or is the best way to tackle this through compressor?

720P30 @ 720P60 should just have a duplicate frame after each frame. So if you drop a 720P60 clip into a 720P30 timeline, it probably will remove the duplicate frames by just playing every other frame. This might be an option.

Another option might be to use compressor to convert it.

    Do some tests.

    Thanks, I didn’t think of dropping the 720p60 into a 720p30 sequence. I’ll give that a try.

I did a test with compressor on a clip, it worked just fine dropping the extra frames and converting from 59.94 to 29.97 fine. I do worry about the TC being right as this is an offline edit.

Perhaps I’ll try and get my hands on a deck, I’d feel better about it if I could do a recapture test.
