    Hi,
We had a Avid Media Composer with Adrenaline DNxcel box.
A film project was supposed to be done on it shot with JVC
    GY111 HD camera at 720p/25 .
(this was our first such project and without checking I asked the director to bring the footage for edit as I thought Avid will have all the capture options)
TO MY Horror I saw that it 720p/50 but no 720p/25 at which footage was shot.So whenever we tried to capture after opening a 720p/50 project through 1394 it showed ‘No video Signal'(we were able to control the deck though)
Then I did my search on the net to find that AVID does not support 720p/25 except for their Avid Liquid.
We then went to my friends place who has FCP6 and cooly captured the footage……..
FCP6 a few dollars machine doing what a thousands of dollar machine cannot do……Frustrating..
    Is AVID listning???

When will Avid support it? Who knows. Anyone who might know isn’t talking.

This format has been hotly debated on the Avid forums. Apparently it was promised about two years ago, if I remember right, but nothing has come of it. Avid dropped the ball big time on this one, and they made a lot of people mad then they did. Hopefully, with new management coming in, they’re going to do something to support more formats and compete more aggressively.

Time will be the only telling factor on when 720p/25 will be supported. In the meantime, use FCP. When it’s supported, come back to Avid.

    Good luck,

    Michael.
