yes
(but only kona boards do this in hardware)

use the 720p 23.98 Varicam easy set up. (driver v1.1 or later- 2.01 solves some earlier issues)
set an “in” and “out” points, being careful to not get near Bars & Tone during the preroll.
DO NOT USE Capture NOW from a deck.

You can even do this on the fly to DV, Photojpeg, 8 bit, 10bit and DVCPROHD!
the Kona’s do not care what you are compressing to when the Baseband video is coming in via HDSDI.
