Activity Forums Apple Final Cut Pro Legacy 720p to 1080p

This past Friday I directed a short film that is supposed to be in 1080p HD. My DP did not check the settings on our Sony EX3 and shot in 720p. Our final product needs to be in 1080p, as per clients request. How can I turn the 720 footage into a 1080 video with little or no complications or adverse effects? I am editing with the most recent version of Final Cut and will be working with the most recent versions of Color and Compressor. In advance, thank you for your help.

    Have a good day.

If you don’t need to hand over the raw footage as 1080p, do a hardware cross convert from the final timeline or movie. AJA does a great job if you are only doing the finish piece the cost should not be much.

If you have to work in 1080p I would still do it the same way. Just a lot more time.

We do that all the time, I have an older G5 with an AJA LH card and a MacPro quad with and LHi and run an SDI cable between them. The Card does a great job of uprezing.
