720P 60 or 1080i 60 – New to the P2 and these formats in FCP 6
Hello
I am new to using these formats and I will be editing this project on FCP 6.0.1 – I have some questions which I am hoping some of you guys can better answer. The project will be for a gallery opening and either projected on a wall or on monitors.
I am new to using the Panasonic P2 camera – we have x2 8GB cards and a powerbook with the slot + external hard drive for field shoots – have access to it for a few days with which i hope to shoot some hidden architectural sites in NYC – as lines, shapes as well as things in motion (crowds, trains, etc).
My friend will be doing a lot of work in After Effects and has asked that we shoot at the highest frame rate so that he has a lot of frames to work with for time remaps and other AE stuff i don’t know much about yet. He will also be doing color correction in AE to get a certain look…
1)so one question is whether to shoot 720p or 1080i and if i only need to shoot certain stuff at 60fps within that set format.
2) can I mix these formats in a project or is that only going to further complicate things
3) If i shoot at 1080i 60 and I want to import off the camera when i go to easy setup it only allows me to do 29.97 – when i choose HD the only way i can get it to say DVCPRO HD 1080i 60 is if i leave the frame rates set to ALL but it ends up bringing in the footage at 29.97.
Any help and advise would be greatly appreciate and of ourse if i need to clarify anything please let me know in order ot better answer some of these questions.
thank you
