[Craig Seeman] “Keep in mind that there are counterfeit Sandisk cards out there.”
    That is really funny.
I live in the capital of the “counterfeits” so I order my cards from Amazon to avoid be locally riped-off.
By next Christmas my friends with digital still cameras may receive as a preset a beautiful 16 GB DanDisk Class 4.

I am new to this so please bear with me. I have tried to do forum searches on my question as best I could. This seemed to be the closest answer to my question.
Q: I am planning a shoot on chain saw safety. It will be going to DVD and web d-load. I do not plan to overcrank, but I am under the impression that if I shoot 720 60p with the shutter speed set to 1/60 I will not be overcranking but will still get better (less motion blur) slo-mo (by reducing rate in editing, not in camera) than by shooting 720 30p or 1080 30p.

I am not worried about my 2 sony SxS cards, but I have 1 hoodman 16g SDHC card/adapter. I am concerned that maybe even 720 60p 60fps might exceed the 35mbs.

I do not intend to overcrank because I also need the audio. I just want the best slo-mo I can get in editing.

    TIA, Rob

XDCAM EX plays back at 35mbps regardless of frame rate. Only overcranking changes the record rate significantly since it’s targeting 35mbps playback (with some variance as it’s VBR).

720p60 will give you best temporal motion resolution in progressive. It’s what I’d recommend for shooting fast action sports for example. I’m not sure what the content will be on a chain saw safety video but I can’t imagine you’d be having chain saw races. Of course some accident scenes with flaying (or even flying) arms might occur I could guess.
