April 13, 2008 at 12:18 pmYou simply change the output of your IoHD to 1080i/29.97 and let that convert the signal on the way out.
You do this in the Io HD Control Panel. Simply leave FCP all set up for 720/24.

April 13, 2008 at 1:36 pmThanks Walter:
I tried to use the FCP media manager and it stopped me cold – I thought the AJA box was too easy a solution but it worked spectacularly. My appreciation is boundless.
Cheers;

That’s one of the beauties you paid for when you purchased AJA. Real, hardware based, broadcast quality conversion in realtime. We convert 720 to 1080 and 1080 to 720 all the time here using our Kona 3s.
Glad I could help and have fun!

April 14, 2008 at 1:14 amWalter….one more thing….are you certain that the Kona LH doesn’t do this exact same thing the exact same way? I can swear I had the same sequence setting and had to output 1080i 29.97 and I was able to do it….the deck even showed the light for 1080 on the front on output. But the sequence was set to 720 23.98 as was FCP. I just made the change in the Kona control panel and it seemed to do the conversion.
I might be crazy, but this is how it went down. I took the tape to another post house with a 1400 deck and did HDSDI dubs to HDCAM for broadcast and their deck showed the 1080 light on the 1400, so the tape was recorded at 1080. If the LH cannot do this, how did this happen?
Thoughts?

According to all specs on the AJA website and discussions with all AJA technicians, Only the Kona 3, Kona 3X and Io HD can perform HD Cross Conversions.
The LH is limited to HD to SD Downconversion only.
