    Hi

Do I understand correctly that the Decklink HD extreme does not support 720 50p?

I have a HD100 and am in Europe, and so my component out gives me 50p! If the Decklink doesn’t, any idea if there are any work arounds for it, or if Black Magic is planning to support this?

I seem to be caught between a rock and a hard place! The AJA Xena only supports Prospect HD (in temrs of lossless codecs) which is VERY expensive, and the Decklink is nice and affordable but doesn’t do 50p – Life is meant to be fairer than that isnt it?!!

    Kind regards

    Trevor

    Hi Treveor,

    We do support 720p50.

    See this technote:

    https://blackmagic-design.com/support/detail.asp?techID=163

You’ll need to be running the latest driver.

    HI Kristian

You have made me a happy man! Is this a recent change, as on the main tech page of MB it doesn’t say 720 50p? I could have missed it ofcourse, quite possible!

Couple of other questions for you:

    (1) I beleive that the Decklink HD extreme comes bundled with some basic capture software. Can you tell me if you can select different codecs through this software. In particular I want to use Sheer video.

    (2) On your site, the minimum spec Pc is obviously quite high. However, if I am using a lossless codec like Sheer video, would I still need such a high end PC?

I know with AJA Xena and Propect HD YOu can know use the Intel Core 2 duo processors, and its suggested even the mobile versions (T2700?). I wanted to use this with a Micro ATX board and 2 gig RAM.

Also any suggestions for the lowest end graphics card that I could use. Basically its only for capture.

    Many thanks

    Trevor

Trevor, if you wanna have a good laugh, go to : https://babelfish.altavista.com/

Enter the weblink (the one in German) and do a German to English translation.

I like the part that translates FCP to Finally Cut Pro !

Now with Babelfish, you can finally tell your friends that you know a bit of eh…French.
