Hey im new the dslr editing so i would like to have some advice before we start to edit in a week or so.

I shot ALL my clips for a music video in 720p 50fps, because i could then use slomo’s when ever i wanted.
Most of the footage will be used for normal speed.

I just used the dslr preset from pp 720p 50ps. So ill be editing the 50p’s in realtime(no slomo). When i want to use slomo’s should i then just change it to 25p in the interpret settings? will that work? Is that correct? I dont need audio to synq.

    Output eventually should be 25p.

If your master output is 25p, your timeline needs to be 25p.

    Things to remember
    1. Set your timeline to 25p
    2. Use two copies of the same file in your media bin (library)
    3. If 50p footage is dropped onto a 25p timeline, the footage will conform to play at normal speed
    4. For slo-mo, you need to right click your file in the media bin, go to interpret footage and type in 25fps. This is why you’ll want two references in your media bin to the file, so they can be interpreted at full speed and slomo.

does this principle count for FCP as well?

I don’t use FCP at all to be honest. I’ve used Premiere since 2001.

FCP, I believe, is a little more difficult to re-time. There are a few additional steps from what I recall but it may not be as much of a headache since you don’t need sync sound. Unless someone else can chime in, I think you just might have to convert/conform before editing and work with one 50fps file and one that has been conformed to 25fps.

Apple’s Cinema Tools (part of the FCP suite) may also be able to do this for you in some fashion.
