Hey guys, My client wants to stuff a whole day, 4+ hours on the same Time code DVD. I did compressor at 150 minute fastest and got 6 Gb of data.. Should I burn it to a dual layer DVD? Is the Mac Pro 8 core a dual layer burner? Or should I adjust the settings in compressor to clamp down the GBs??

    Any other suggestions. other formats?

This is a time code burn copy for his review and editing of a 4 hour teaching session.

Thanks YOU very much for that energetic Yes… Now if just the economy was that energetic…

So what are the odds of the clients laptop and his bosses Mac mini read dual layer DVD..

Do all DVD players read dual layer? Consumer DVD players too?

Yes, I’d say all DVD players sold since quite a while back read dual layer DVDs. Most movies, applications and games you buy on DVD today are dual layer.

there hasn’t been a DVD player made that cannot read a DL disc in years, I don’t even think you can find a burner that is not DL. I’m talking further back then G4s.

DL disc cost you $2, to re-encode cost you at least 4 hours. I know times are tough but I would spend the $2 extra for the disc. 🙂
