64 bit Vista Vegas 8.1 install problem
my problem is a Windows problem, not a vegas problem but you guys know everything so here goes…
My current projects and problems rendering them have sparked my interest in 64 bit Vegas. I downloaded the Vegas 8.1 software, purchased Vista 64 bit OS and a new 500GB drive to do a clean system install (saving my Windows XP 32 bit system disk just in case).
Now I’m having trouble installing Vista 64 bit OS. When I select the drive to install to I get an error… “Windows is unable to find a system volume that meets its criteria for installation” I have tried various other drives, known to work under XP OS. Same error.
I have located SATA 64 bit drivers for my intel mother board and loaded them here’s the rest of my computer properties
intel Quad CPU Q9450
4 gig RAM 2.75 showing in XP (?) nevermind
intel EVGA 132-ck-nf78-A1 main board
2 TB RAIDany ideas?

My Vista 64 bit Home Premium edition will not install if any Hard Drive in my system fails to meet its criteria. I disabled my RAID and the install went smoothly to a clean SATA drive.
Vegas 8.1 seem to perform nicely on HDV projects and HI RES pan and scan photos even before my upgrade to 8 gig ram.
However…
I now learn that no “home edition” of vista will recognize a dynamic disk drive so my striped RAID is useless. I will need to acquire a Vista 64 bit business edition and reinstall.
I wonder if disabling my RAID will be necessary when I install the 64 bit Business edition?
time will tell…

can’t you just upgrade the edition via the System Properties (win key + Pause)?
haven’t done it myself, but might get around a reinstall….
