    Hi everyone,
By viewing my other post “Best Computer For Editing” some of you may know that I am looking for a new computer for video editing. I have a question in regards to 64 bit verses 32 bit (my current OS is Windows XP Pro 32 bit)
Will Vegas 8 and DVD Architect run on a 64 bit system? Will all my other software application be in question.
For those of you in the know, please bring me up to speed. Thanks, Ray

Ray, based on numerous threads on the Sony Vegas forum I know that there are several folks running 64-bit versions of XP & Vista with very few problems.

Sony is supposed to be showing the 64-bit version of Vegas at NAB next week with delivery promised “later this year”.
It’s supposed to be for Vista 64 only though 🙁

    Hi,
Thanks to all for your replies!
A question for Mike; You stated that there are many people out there running 64 bit versions with “little trouble.” Could you give me a few specifics on the problems that they faced?
Also, I’m wondering if staying with a 32 bit running system with Windows XP SP2, Quad Core Xeon, 4GB ram and 200GB hard drive would be all one would need. I would prefer a 64 bit, but then I don’t like hiccups.
Thanks again to all you guys, Ray

Sorry Ray but, since I’m still running 32 bit XP, I really haven’t paid a lot of attention to those posts.
You can do a search on the Sony Vegas forum on vista 64 bit and I’m sure you’ll get several hits.
There’s nothing wrong with going with a system like you’re talking about.
You can always switch over to Vista (or Microsoft 7 when it gets released) at some point in the future.
BTW, the only reason I didn’t go Vista when I got my new machine was because it was still new on the market and I didn’t want to be a guinea pig.
