May 3, 2010 at 4:20 pmLaunch System Profiler (Applications > Utilities > System Profiler or About This Mac > More Info…)
Click on the “Software” heading in the left pane
Check the “64-bit Kernel and Extensions” line for a Yes or a No.Taken from https://www.ahatfullofsky.comuv.com/English/Programs/SMS/SMS.html

May 4, 2010 at 3:36 pmDoes it make sense to run at 64 bit?
This has been covered previously here.
How do I change
This Apple KB article outlines how to tell OS X to boot with a 32 or 64 bit kernel by default.
More information regarding how to determine if your Mac is capable of booting a 64 bit kernel can be found in the first link I posted above.
