I have a project with 60 hours of rushes – now down to 15 – about 800 clips

the system is becoming very unstable

is this because premiere pro can’t handle the size of the project – or is it the hardware

    pentium 3
    2 gigs of ram

    200 gig capture drive

4 usb drives for the clips and audio

the reaosn it is so big is that I have to make three versions of the sme documnetary about the american wheat harvesdt for three different outlets

don’t want to start re-loading windows and drivers etc if it is an edl fault

    Hi,
Premiere does slow down on large projects. The slowness depends on your machine also. Check Memory usage with your project open under Task manager->Performence. If the PF memory usage is around 2 gb or more then adding more memory will help. But I am quite shure pentium 3 MB wont take more ram. If you constantly do such projects, please upgrade to a dual xeon machine. It will be much smoother. Alternatively If you can Temporarily offline some files, do it(AVI). Just make a new folder in the same drive and move those files to this folder. dont link them until you require them.

    Good Luck

    thats a shame

had hoped I could get around it some-how

trouble is doing the three projects from the same pool of material

so it is just a size problem it seems

will have to find a way of chopping the project up
