60i to SD DVD problems
Hi there.We have some 1440×1080 60i footage and we need to export it so it can be burned onto a SD DVD and played on a SD NTSC television. I ve tried different options to do it, however, when we play the dvd and watch it on the television the fields seem to be wider or really easy to notice, giving it a quality we are not happy with. Do you have any solution for this, or is it always like this?
The sequence we are working on is the same as the native footage. Ive tried using one of the dvd presets in compressor and other several methods,the result, however, is always the same.

The best thing to do is let compressor do the work. Export your HD sequence as a self contained QT movie. Take that into compressor and choose the DVD option that fits your length. That file can then be taken in DVD Studio Pro or Toast or iDVD or other DVD software.
Have you viewed your edit on any sort of HD or NTSC monitor before outputting? What does it look like on that screen while you’re editing?

Yes. It looks normal on my mac monitor. Ive been reading and i think its somehow related to HDV rectangular pixels.
I tried the compressor thing already but still got the jaggy lines. -
No no. Not on a Mac monitor. That doesn’t display video correctly. It doesnt display interlacing or non-square pixels or color/gamma info properly. How does it look on your HD monitor while you’re editing? You don’t have one do you? Hard to troubleshoot something like this if you have to burn a DVD every time you want to see what it looks like on tv.
