In R10.1.x, I’m syncing Dailies. A 6 channel wave file always defaults to 5.1, not 6 channel mono.
So for instance, 4 channel wave, comes as 4 channel mono in the edit window, same for 5 channels, and 7 channels, however 6 channel mono comes in always as 5.1 sound.

Now, I know you can change this manually so Resolve sees this as 6 channel mono, and drags down in the edit window properly, but is there a toggle for this I’m not seeing? Can Resolve simply see 6 channels as mono on import?

Also, VERY ODDLY… after 6 channel mono mix is in Resolve, it will still render it as a 5.1 channel .mov file, not as 6 channel mono.

    Any thoughts, guys?

It seems as though its a Quicktime flag, as some trials that I have been doing with multichannel field sound sync dailies… export ‘same as source’ get flagged as 5.1 in Quicktime Player, even when there are only 5 channels — It is weirdly listed as 5.1 in the SMPTE DTV configuration but missing the Rs channel, ie (L,R,C,Lfe,Ls)

    I blame Apple.
