5DtoRGB missing ProRes Codecs
Posted by Sigmund Dol on January 18, 2011 at 6:07 pmWhen opening 5DtoRGB I am greeted with a prompt that reads as follows:
Missing ProRes Codecs
No ProRes codecs could be found on the system. Only DPX output will be available.I have FCP 6.0.6 running OS X 10.5.8. I have the file “AppleProRes422.component” in Macintosh HD/Library/Quicktime.
Any solutions?

January 19, 2011 at 3:54 amDoes your system ‘see’ the prores components in QuickTime/FCP?

January 19, 2011 at 9:04 amYes, all other applications (FCP / MPEGstreamclip / Quicktime) do recognize the component.
AppleProResConverter.component + AppleProRes422.component are located at various paths on my system:
Macintosh HD / Library / AppSupport / Quicktime
Macintosh HD / System / Library / Quicktime
User / Library / AppSupport / QuicktimeI might be helpful knowing which path 5DtoRGB is taking…

January 19, 2011 at 3:02 pmSigmund, I haven’t seen this before – have you tried asking the 5DtoRGB people? (Please tell us what they said! We might need that info one day?)

January 19, 2011 at 3:11 pmYes, I send an email twice to Rarevision – answer still pending…
Of course I’ll share the solution if there’ll be one.
(By the way the AppleProResDecoder is also located at MacintoshHD / Library / Quicktime )Best

August 23, 2011 at 5:31 amI’m getting the same message. I’m thinking it has something to do with Lion, FC Studio and FCX loaded on my system.

December 1, 2012 at 8:48 amHi! Any news on that topic? I got the message as well. Do you work with other programms like Mpeg Streamclip instead?
Thanks! -

December 11, 2012 at 11:39 pmWould love to know as well. Just ran into this today. Am updating everything to see if it changes anything. Hate to go to Streamclip if I don’t have to. I rarevision them just now, I’ll see what happens, but would love to hear any suggestions.
