    Hey!

I have imported my converted Canon 5D footage (converted to Apple Pro Res 23.98 HQ 1920×1080) but it is out of sync in preview and on the time line. My sequence and capture preset are set to AJA Kona3:1080psf 23.98 Apple Pro Res 422 HQ and my video playback is at AJA Kona3 1080p 23.98 10 Bit (1920 x 1080). What am I forgetting?!?

    Cheers!

[Conor Nyc] “What am I forgetting?!?”

The constant advice from this forum that ProRes422 is best for transcoding 5D and 7D footage. A search of this forum will also reveal the advice from experts like Gary Adcock to use HQ on 2K and above frame sizes, but not on 1920 x 1080 footage as there is no advantage and sometimes problems.

Sync could be due to drives not coping with the extra data rate or perhaps your footage was shot at 30fps with audio at 44.1khz (old firmware). If so, then a search of this forum will also give you the formula for Compressor conversions of frame rate and audio sample rate.
