59.94i project – relinking MXF imported 23.98 media
I have been given a project to online. The project is in 59.94i and the majority of the footage (~350 files) is in 23.976. This footage has been imported to DNxHD 145 and I am going to need to bring it up to 220. I have all of the original camera media.
The footage in the bins lacks a tape name and Avid will not let me change it because the clips do not match the project rate. What is the proper path for relinking the master clips here?

Can you open those first in a 23.98 project (which is what the offline folks should have done as well). One in there, open those bins in your current project and try from there. If they imported or transcoded, they have lost all reference to the source clip. When transcoding from different frame rates, there us a rather obvious message stating that fact. Would you happen to know if this was the case?

If I open the bin in a 23.976 project, give it a tape number, then switch back to the 59.94i project that relies on that bin, will that disconnect it from its clip in the timeline?
In that case, would relinking the media in the timeline to my upres material still be impossible?

My Avid is v6.0.1 BTW.

Anything imported or AMA linked will have it’s filename in the “Source File” column. Is there anything in that column?

“Source file” metadata is present for all of the media, yes.

6.0 introduced relinking between TAPE and SOURCE FILE columns, but 6.5 is the one that actually works as it allows for any columns to be used with some extra control.

I feel my biggest stumbling block here is that the master clips have different start TC than the camera media. The project was consolidated so the media has been trimmed. Do I have any hope of relinking to an AMA of the camera media here?
I also have an older bin file that contains original imports, albeit offline. I could theoretically relink these to an AMA of camera media, correct? Would that be of any use?
