It didn’t break it as i just had to do this this past week. What deck are you using and have you made sure that both video and audio are checked in your clip settings tab of the log and capture window?

I’m using a couple of JVC higher end consumer decks, they didn’t have problems before the upgrade. Yes, both audio and video are checked in the clip settings. The capture settings are Firewire NTSC which allows me to control the deck, and DV NTSC which previews the audio, but with video checked it shows the color bars with only “preview disabled”. If I try and capture now, it says there is no video signal!

Trash preferences, try another dv deck, swap firewire cables. Quit FCP, turn off the deck, turn on the deck, launch FCP.

Also, do you see your device on this qualified list?

I tried all of the above with no luck. I’m now capturing with a Sony GV-1000. It’s not on the list that you posted, but I’ve been using it with FCP for several years without incident until now. So here’s what’s happening: When I’m logging, I can see the video if I set the capture to DV PAL, still doesn’t work with DV NTSC. But the problem here is that all of the tapes that I’m capturing are DV NTSC – I’ve tried with tapes recorded on the HVX and also an XL1s. Any idea what’s going on?
