Is it me or is it FCPX?

I have recently discovered that the routing of 5.1 sound channels as per FCPX’s level meter indicates gives an incorrect output configuration when played back on a Dolby encoded disk.. To achieve the correct channel configuration I find it necessary to route as follows: Lf to Lf, C to Rf, Rf to C, LFE to Rs, Ls to LFE and Rs to Ls. Needless to say, I have confirmed that my audio routing to the speakers is correct.

Is this a known problem, if so then this is a serious error that needs to be fixed asap.

This is not a FCPX issue. You need to go to the utlilites folder in Applications and open the Audio MIDI Setup.app. Then click on the Configure Speakers button in the bottom right corner and correctly configure your output streams.

    Thanks for the reply.

It is not the monitor speaker routing from FCPX that i am referring to, but the channel configuration burnt on a 5.1 DVD. If I don’t route channels as per my earlier post then the DVD playback is incorrect.
