    Hi everyone,
just decided to take advantage of the cheap universal upgrade from FCP4.5. I installed it on a different partition to my 4.5 version which has been working great for 2 years now, doing some very solid unrelenting onling etc… I did my first online with 5.1, and some wierd problems arose. Firstly the return of 1 or 2 pixel high, 200 pixel wide lines, that last a field, and seem to originate in FCP, cos you can see them on the canvas. But they dont always appear in the same place twice! THis initially happend when i first got the system, but no-one seemed to know about it, including here and on the AJA IO forum, but it seemed to disappear after a few system & aja upgrades!

More worringly, sometimes, when you press play there is a big stutter, and then there are intermittent audio clicks, and the odd big audio noise (like a record scratch). Strange thing is, it seemed to be fine for one playout, then for a repeat playout these anomilies started happeneing and have been happening ever since. Even stranger, when i create a QT reference movie, and open that in FCP4.5 on the other partition, it played out pretty much fine!

Am working on 15min programmes, using DV anamorphic, re-rendered at 8-bit, with quite a bit of colour correction. On a 2Ghz G5 with an AJA IO. Like i say i have been using the same metods for 2 years on this system now, and it has always been solid.
    ANy thoughts!
    Thanks
    Nick

Provided that you have everything installed and hooked up correctly, I’d call AJA.
