I have Vegas 6 and a Turtle Beach Santa Cruz sound card coupled with Altec Lansing ADA 885 speakers. I’m having problems creating 5.1 audio. When I pan the audio only to the rear channels, I can’t hear anything. I’ve tried playing with Vegas’ sound mapping, with the sound card settings and the speaker settings and haven’t yet figured out the right combination to get surround audio out of my rear speakers. So I have no idea if the surround audio I’m creating is too loud or even there at all before I output to DVD. Any ideas?

Have you directed the rear channels in Preferences> audio device?

After much digging, I luckily happened upon a sound card setting that allowed multi-channel audio to be directed where Vegas’ sound mapping sent it. Why this isn’t the default setting, I have no idea. But 5.1 is up and running. Thanks!
