    Hi All,

We are going through some edited pieces that we did in south africa and we acquired video via HV20 at 1080i60 and using a EX-1 @ 1080i60. and noticed that there seems to be some sort of flicker which I believe is coming from the light bulb @ 50 Hz.My Timeline is set at Pro Res – 1080i60 and the piece will be downconverted to SD for playout on our show. Is there a way to reduce the flickering? Filters? or do we just deal and move on?

    Thanks for the advise

Furnace from The Foundry, or I think someone mentioned Sapphire.

In hindsight (unfortunately) you can avoid this problem by shooting with a shutter speed of 1/100th second (or 1/50th if you can set it in the camera).

I replied to the wedding video post suggesting GenArts Sapphire plugins.

I used the flicker filters to solve a similar issue with fluorescent lights on PAL SD footage.

The results weren’t perfect. But with some effort I restored several ‘critical’ scenes.

This was for a documentary where reshooting wasn’t an option.

You can try the demo version to see if the filters will work for you.
