    Hi all,

Made the jump from FC to PP, got a quick question.

Got a shoot next week, footage will be ProRes HQ 1920×1080 50fps.

Final output needs to be ProRes HQ 25fps

We want to use footage full speed at times, and also at half speed at other times.

If I just drop the 50fps onto a 25fps timeline, it will play full speed unless I slow it to 50%, correct?

How will PP interpret the 50fps footage at 25fps? Just drop every other frame? And will this look like 25fps footage, or will I need to add a bit of motion blur?

I know PP is clever, but just seeing HOW clever.

    Thanks

    Yes.

[Adi Kerr] “How will PP interpret the 50fps footage at 25fps? Just drop every other frame?”

Yes, Premiere will automatically drop every other frame.

[Adi Kerr] ” And will this look like 25fps footage, or will I need to add a bit of motion blur?”

Because the video was recorded at a higher speed, each image is more crisp with less blur. Frame blending can be used to layer the dropped frames on top of the existing frames to smooth the motion.

You can drop 50p in a 25 fps timeline with no problem. Just try it.
