August 17, 2009 at 8:33 amSorry, all day at Disneyland (posting while waiting in LONG lines) and I get home and forgot that the MXO2 is at work. So I can answer better tomorrow. Sorry. And I might be confused as I use the Kona 3 at work and the MXO2 at home, so I might be transposing Kona 3 capabilities.
I’ll know more tomorrow.

August 17, 2009 at 5:47 pmYeah, I’d like to apologize for misleading. The only options for SD to HD are Letterbox, Pillarbox and Anamorphic. I must be confused do to the fact that I use the Kona 3 daily as well.
Pardon me.
We’ll see if we can rectify this.

May 5, 2010 at 1:18 pmwhatever i m getting now by capturing it, if i capture 4:3 footage by selecting (source format-SD 4:3)and (MXO2-DVCPRO HD 1080i 50) from FCP7’s capture input,i m getting the image at the centre with two black pillers at the right and left side, what i want is the footage with letter box at top & bottom rather than pillers..what do think if i upgrade the driver it will full-fill my necessity?if so, then which version of the driver you are suggesting to use…let me know as soon as possible..
thank you.

May 5, 2010 at 2:24 pmHi Asadul
You’ve found a good thread here and the answer to the question you are asking is already fully detailed if you just read back through the earlier posts.
That said, to cut a long story short(er) … SD is 4:3, HD is 16:9. What you are seeing is exactly correct for the manner in which the MXO2 works ie your SD 4:3 source is blown up as far as it can go whilst fully retaining the original source image / aspect within the HD frame… in other words, yes, you get a pillar box.
Best

It doesn’t offer that. Pillarbox is as far as you go. The rest you use FCP to scale, so you can then adjust where you want the picture to go…what you want to cut off, more of the top, or more of the bottom.
